Personal Palettes

Published September 2022

Born out of my fascination with the colors associated with political candidates in the 2016 American presidential race, these palettes represent places, films, and other conceptual spaces. I work "by hand" photographing actual elements in physical spaces (by going to that city, neighborhood or place) or by trawling digital spaces for symbolic colors. While on site, I match the camera's capture with what my eye sees, aiming for the most faithful color of that element with the lighting of that day. I then play around with the placement of various colors on the page.
